The "Spridget Project" - Tools

Up

"Never take on a project that doesn't require the purchase of at least one new tool."

Good words to live by, and from the way this project is shaping up, there will be a number of new tools added before it's over. I thought I'd put up this page as a reference for text and photos that will be added throughout the project where a particular tool is referenced. This is not to say that I will always have the right tool for the job, or that I am necessarily using the tool in the way it was intended to be used, or that there may not be a better tool for the job!

That said, many of the items listed here are common in even the most basic shop...others, well, maybe not. Either way, here is a sampling of what I'm using most frequently, or to accomplish some of the more unusual or difficult tasks.

Air tools (UNDER CONSTRUCTION)

Air hammer and chisel, needed for removing panels.

Die grinder and various abrasive disks; for stripping paint and cleaning up welds.

Panel saw with both coarse and fine blades.

Power tools (UNDER CONSTRUCTION)

4 1/2" grinder...for body work, THE most used tool.

Random orbit sander...good for stripping paint and finish work.

Bench and Shop tools (UNDER CONSTRUCTION)

A 1 ton chain hoist makes pulling the engine/transmission easy.

Sheet metal hand punch.
